Samuel Yang

TutorABC

Career

Samuel Yang, a third-generation investment banker with over 25 years of experience, has held senior roles at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, managing over USD 3 billion in venture capital, pre-IPO, and IPO investments across Asia Pacific. He now oversees his family’s investment office and TutorABC, a leading platform for online English and Chinese learning, where he serves as Co-Chairman and CEO. Samuel also directs The Yang Foundation, which supports sports, education, and international exchanges for students from Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Samuel’s education includes a Master's in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge University and a BSc in Finance from City University of London. With two decades of teaching experience, he has been an instructor for the CFA program across all levels and currently leads the analyst training programs at UBS, Credit Suisse, and Julius Baer in Hong Kong and Singapore. Samuel is also a certified Franklin Covey trainer, specializing in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, leveraging his expertise to develop and mentor young leaders globally.

Contribution to the Chamber

Born in Los Angeles, Samuel attended boarding school in England before settling in Taipei. A sports enthusiast, he played county cricket for Gloucestershire and county rugby for Somerset, and currently enjoys golf and cricket, holding memberships at MCC and other sports clubs worldwide. Samuel is Chairman of the East West Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization.

 

Since 2013, Samuel has actively contributed to BCCTaipei, supporting the Christmas Luncheon and working closely with UK Trade & Investment in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, and China, fostering business, educational, and cultural ties between Asia and the UK.
