Career

Owen Chio is a legal expert with over 25 years of experience in cross-border transactions, investments, and commercial disputes. As a Partner and Senior Legal Consultant at K&L Gates, he specialises in energy projects, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and commercial litigation. Owen has successfully led major projects for multinational companies in the oil and gas, renewable energy, high-tech, and biotech industries.

His previous roles include senior positions at esteemed law firms such as Baker McKenzie and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Owen has been recognised as a "Top 100 Lawyer in Taiwan" by the Asian Business Law Journal and as a "Leading Lawyer - Highly Regarded" by International Financial Law Review (IFLR). He holds qualifications as a Barrister and Solicitor of England & Wales and an attorney in the State of New York.

Owen studied at King’s College, University of London, and Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, and also attended National Taiwan University and The University of Manchester.

Contribution to the Chamber

Owen has been a key representative of corporate members Baker McKenzie, KPMG Law, and K&L Gates. He mentored in the BCCT Young Professionals Mentorship Programme in 2023 and will participate in the Young Leaders Mentoring Programme in 2024. He also contributed to the Christmas Charity Auction and regularly attends BCCT events. His expertise and cross-border experience make him a valuable bridge between British and Taiwanese businesses.
