Big Food Consults

Career

Martin MacLeod is the Senior Partner at Big Food Consults, having honed his culinary expertise over 20 years in 10 market-leading hotels across 5 countries. Originally an engineering student in Scotland, he found his passion in kitchens rather than mechanics. Martin gained formal accreditation as an apprentice in a leading Seattle hotel, leading to a career filled with long shifts and back-to-back responsibilities which he found rewarding and fun. Today, he focuses on nurturing future chefs and developing new food concepts that highlight healthful, natural Taiwanese ingredients. Martin is also an accredited hospitality professor at Hong Kuang University and has significantly influenced Taiwan’s food scene, especially with his innovative work at The W Hotel in Taipei.

Contribution to the Chamber

Martin has been a key BCCTaipei member for around eight years, initially making waves with his innovative haggis recipe at the St. Andrew's Ball. He also plays a crucial role in organising events like the Christmas Charity Auction and Burns Night, offering strategic advice to British food and beverage companies entering Taiwan. Martin actively develops social events and networking opportunities, aiming to engage the community and attract new members, all while enhancing the Chamber's impact and visibility in Taiwan.
